A FATHER described as having ‘so many beautiful qualities as a human’ died from a drug related death, an inquest heard.

Jason Wildman, 52, died on June 8, and his body was found by his friend at his home in Blackburn.

An inquest at Accrington Town Hall heard Mr Wildman, also known as JJ to friends and family, was described as the ‘kindest, most passionate man’ whose ‘light and love still shines brightly’.

Leaving his mother Linda, ex-partner Dawn and his three children, Mr Wildman was ‘unfailingly loyal’, had ‘strong morals and ethics’ and was a ‘hardworking man full of kindness’.

However, the inquest heard how Mr Wildman struggled to overcome issues with drugs which led to his untimely death.

A post-mortem examination found heroin in his blood, other drugs which can increase sleepiness and evidence of cocaine and cannabis use.

At the inquest, Mr Wildman’s mother Linda said she had last heard from her son the night before he died and he was planning to take her out on the Sunday.

She said her son had been battling drug addiction for 30 years but in the last five years he tried very hard to change his lifestyle.

She said he was in constant pain due to deep vein thrombosis in his leg and he had suffered a trauma when his housemate died earlier this year.

Mr Wildman was last seen the day before his death on June 7 by his neighbour.

The inquest heard how Mr Wildman had sought help for his drug issues, and had been seeing a recovery practitioner from Delphi Medical for treatment for heroin and cocaine use.

When he last saw his practitioner, on May 26, he was not drinking alcohol and he didn’t report to be taking heroin or cocaine.

But the hearing was told how he struggled to get clean as the drugs numbed the pain from his DVT in his legs.

Linda said: “We just loved him so much.

“He was doing really well until the death of his best friend and then he was completely broken.

“I absolutely loved him; he was so kind, and I know he loved me so much.

“He didn’t have the strength to cope with what was happening to him.”

Speaking at the inquest, Mr Wildman’s ex-partner Dawn said: “I haven’t seen or heard from him in years, but I never stopped loving him and I never will.

“He had so many beautiful qualities as a human, and it is so easy to get lost in his last moments if you don’t know the human behind the death.

“He wasn’t just a drug addict; he was the kindest, most passionate man I’ve ever met, and he loved so fiercely.

“I regret not a day in my life with him, he was worth so much more than being an addict. I choose to remember your blinding light.”

Mr Wildman’s son, Josh, also paid tribute, he said: “He was and is a father to me and Poppy and his light and love still shines brightly.

“I will be forever grateful; I would not be the man I am today without him.”

Concluding the inquest, Coroner Laura Fox said Mr Wildman was a ‘trier’, and his death was ‘tragic’ despite ‘efforts to overcome addiction’.

She said Mr Wildman’s cause of death drug related death and he died as a result of ingesting a fatal quantity of heroin.

Paying her respects to the family, Ms Fox said: “You gave a beautiful tribute to a well-loved man, I’m very sorry for your loss.”
