A generous man from Blackburn has offered to buy an entire Christmas dinner for a struggling family this year.
Daniel Watson, a self-employed painter and decorator, has offered to buy meat and all the trimmings for one family so they can enjoy they day instead of worrying about finances.
Daniel said he wanted to help someone this year as he knows what it is like to spend Christmas with financial problems.
He said: “When lockdown first started I was out of work as I wasn’t able to go around to people’s houses.
“Myself and my partner had a new baby at the time and we fell on hard times.
“Luckily, we had a great support group of friends and family around us.
“Now everything is back to normal and I am doing well at work I wanted to try and help somebody out because I know how easy it is to fall on hard times.”
Daniel hopes the act of kindness will ease a family’s financial burden and allow them to enjoy the year.
He said: “I know how stressful Christmas can be, especially if you have kids.
“At Christmas it’s easy to feel like you need to go above and beyond but this can be hard when funds are low.
“I want to be able to take the stress away from people so they can just enjoy the season.
“I just want to spread some Christmas cheer. I am not fussed about publicity or people knowing who I am.”
The 33-year-old sent a message to Blackburn community group, Shad Chefs: The Council Estate Food Connoisseurs, asking if they knew of any families who could benefit from a free Christmas dinner.
On December 1 he will pick one of the nominated families out of a hat and they will be given the free dinner.
If you, or someone you know, is struggling you can message Shad Chefs or Daniel to potentially receive the Christmas dinner.
