A new housing development in East Lancashire has been named after football legend Brian Miller.
Developers B&E Boys unveiled their new residential development off Brownside Road in Worsthorne on the outskirts of Burnley, earlier this month.
It has been named after Burnley FC legend Brian Miller who died in 2007 aged 70.
The brand-new homes will be situated on ‘Millers Green’, aptly named in Brian’s honour given his connection with the village of Worsthorne.
Some of Brian’s family members were invited to the housing development including his son-in-law Derek Scott, son David Miller, and his daughter Gillian Scott.
Brian lived in the village for over 40 years, a large proportion of that time in the house directly next door to the setting of the new namesake housing scheme.
He even married his wife at the church located in the centre of the village.
Born in Hapton, Brian made his debut as a 17-year-old for the Clarets, and went on to make 379 appearance for the Turf Moor team.
Burnley FC was the only club Brian played for during his 13 year career - in which he won a solitary England cap - playing in midfield as Burnley won the First Division title in 1959-60, the last time the club were champions of England.
He also managed the club on two separate occasions in the 70s and 80s spending more than seven years at the helm and winning the Third Division title.
He was in charge of the team for the infamous ‘Orient Game’ back in 1987 and one year later for a trip to Wembley in the Sherpa Van Trophy final.
A spokesperson for B&E Boys said: “The timing couldn’t have been better as we have now have the first properties ready for occupation, and we have begun to welcome the new residents onto the street.
“Millers Green offers a range of stunning three and four bedroom family homes, built in natural stone, and each finished to a high specification.
"All homes benefit from outstanding views of the surrounding countryside, as well as being ideally located close to the motorway network giving easy access to Burnley and Manchester, yet still appealing to those seeking the quiet village life.
“The show home on site, a stunning four bedroom detached home with a garage is open to view every Saturday and Sunday, 11am to 4pm with no appointment necessary."
