The Finch Bakery twins have announced a new store opening in Blackburn.
The Instagram famous bakery chain, owned by Lauren Sinclair and Rachel Finch, is opening a shop in The Mall creating five new jobs.
It will taking over the Millie’s Cookies site in the centre of the Mall and is set to open later this month.
This is Finch Bakery’s third venture with a shop in Great Harwood and a pop-up shop in Harvey Nichols in Manchester.
Speaking to the Lancashire Telegraph, Rachel said they didn’t initially plan on opening a site in Blackburn but when the opportunity arose it felt like “the perfect place”.
She said: “We didn’t have Blackburn set as a location but the opportunity arose and it just felt like the perfect place.
"We grew up going into Blackburn every weekend as teenagers so it’s very exciting for us that we will be opening in the busiest part of the Mall.
“We will be opening as soon as we can but hopefully end of November - the shop has created five new jobs.
“We’re also excited the Mall has been bought by a Blackburn based business and hope to see lots more shops opening soon.”
In a Facebook post the twins said: “We’ve been dying to tell you all this news. Shop number three is coming late November.
“It’s something we weren’t looking for at all, it just an opportunity that landed at the right time.
“I mean probably the wrong time in a financial crisis but we move but a project we are so excited for and to bring some Finch Bakery into our home town.
“From being surrounded by independents in Great Harwood to among big brand names H&M, Next, Primark and our “competitors” food establishments Costa and Greggs in Blackburn this has never been a more scary business risk… but we are dreamers so here we go.
“Opening date and more information announced soon!”
Loraine Jones, general manager at The Mall Blackburn, said: “We are over the moon to be welcoming Finch Bakery to The Mall.
“The business is built on an enviable reputation for out of this world cakes, brownies, cake jars and celebration bakes, so I am sure our shoppers will share our enthusiasm for their amazing products!”
Lauren and Rachel, who have 180,000 followers on Instagram, opened their Great Harwood shop last year, just four doors down from their original shop also in Queen Street.
They started their business from home, making cakes for friends and family but now post their baked goods to postcodes across the UK, as well as having written a recipe book which made the Amazon top 10 list.
