Sports retailer JD is expanding with a new store opening in East Lancashire, creating 40 jobs. 

JD will open at Hyndburn Retail Park in Whitebirk, on the Blackburn/Hyndburn border, on Saturday.

The grand opening will take place across the weekend with DJ Skelektor blasting tunes on Saturday and Sunday. JD will be offering customisation on all footwear purchases throughout the weekend.

James Air, head of Group Acquisitions at JD said: “We are really pleased to be opening on Hyndburn Retail Park.

“This will be a large, full format store which will really complement our existing Blackburn town centre provision. We are looking forward to having it open just in time for Christmas shopping.” 

The new 4,484 square foot store will stock more ranges across fashion, footwear and accessories with big brands including Nike, Adidas, The North Face.

Residents will be able to get their hands on New Balance Women’s apparel for the first time which is not yet available in the existing Lord Square unit.

World Cup team kits will be stocked to allow football fanatics to represent their squad with pride no matter the final score.
