There has been an S Club swap at an upcoming Christmas lights switch on in Lancashire after the original band member booked for the event had to pull out.
Jo O’Meara had been scheduled to switch on the Christmas lights in Leyland on Saturday, November 26, but due to unforeseen circumstances she has had to cancel.
However, a couple of her bandmates have stepped up to ensure that the crowds who will gather will not be left disappointed.
Tina Barrett and Bradley McIntosh will now be appearing, and alongside Andy Whyment – Kirk from Coronation Street – will switch on the town’s lights ahead of the festive period.
As well as turning on the lights, they will also perform some of S Club 7’s best known hits for the crowds.
The event, hosted by South Ribble Borough Council in partnership with Leyland Town Team, will begin on Hough Lane from 11.30am with the main event taking place at 5.30pm following an exciting performance from S Club.
There will be lots to enjoy during the day including fairground rides, market stalls, street food, live music and entertainment from 3pm and of course children will be able to meet Santa in his Grotto.
Stalls, crafts and refreshments will also be available throughout the day at Leyland United Reformed Church along with a special Christingle celebration which will take place at 4pm.
After their performance at 5.10pm, Tina and Bradley will be joined by the Mayor and Andy onstage for the big switch on.
Free parking will be available on the day at South Ribble car parks: Churchill Way, Sumner Street, King Street and Ecroyd Street.
The local, Leyland Cross Christmas light switch on will take place the night before on Friday, November 26, from 6pm to 7.30pm with free refreshments and mince pies available.
