New analysis has revealed the worst areas in England for outstanding education and a Lancashire town features in the list.

Childcare and education experts at Little Ones London examined the percentage of schools rated by Ofsted as outstanding in more than 150 parts of England to establish which areas have the highest and lowest chances of offering an outstanding education. 

Blackpool places second to last in the ranking as the local authority only has 5.13% of schools rated as outstanding in their last Ofsted inspection.

The Isle of Wight ranks at the bottom as none of its 45 schools has an outstanding rating from Ofsted.

The research also revealed which areas in England were the best when it comes to having an outstanding education.

Kensington and Chelsea came out on top as 51.52% of its schools have received an outstanding rating from Ofsted.

  2. Richmond upon Thames – 46.43%
  3. Harrow – 41.51%
  4. Lambeth – 35.44%
  5. Westminster – 34.69%
  6. Trafford – 33.73%
  7. Newham – 33.71%
  8. Redbridge – 32.39%
  9. Windsor and Maidenhead – 31.67%
  10. Hammersmith and Fulham – 31.25%

A spokesperson for Little Ones London commented on the findings: “Every parent wants the best education for their children, so living close to good schools is a priority for many families. The results from this study offer an intriguing insight into which specific areas of England can offer the best education, with London dominating the list.”
