A family in East Lancashire has spent more than a thousand pounds on a fantastic display in a bid to raise money for a local event.
The Drivers, who live on St Huberts Road in Great Harwood, have been decorating their home for Halloween for the past three years.
The family is accepting monetary donations which will go towards the Great Harwood Christmas light switch-on.
Beth Driver said: “Before Covid, we hadn’t really put much thought into big displays but with the pandemic we decided we still wanted to do something for all the children who had missed out on lots of big events.
“We even used a pipe to drop the sweets and prizes out in order to maintain social distancing.
“We have created three different displays over the last three years, making sure to change it up each time.”
This year alone they have spent more than £1,500 on decorations and the jam-packed display features a smoke and bubble machine, flashing lights, creepy spiders and even a pair of undead newlyweds who can sing ‘I got you babe’ by Sonny and Cher.
Beth added: “We set up our display every year as it’s our favourite holiday and we absolutely love all the support of people walking by and commenting on our post, we’ve also found that since Covid not many houses around the area set up displays anymore.
“The neighbours absolutely love the decorations and are always so excited to see us put them out, we get so many comments from people on the street who see us exiting the house.”
This is the first year the family have organised a collection.
Beth continued: “We have decided to set up a collection for Great Harwood light switch-on due to Great Harwood only getting a very small off the council this year.
“We would just like to thank everyone for all the love on our display and for the donations that have already been made towards the light switch-on.”
You can see the Halloween display and make a donation by visiting the house at the top of St Huberts Road in Great Harwood, BB6 7DS.
