The emergency services have issued a warning to the public following a blaze at a commercial unit.
Four fire engines were called to Lyelake Lane in Lathom, Ormskirk, today (October 24) at around 8.48am.
It has been confirmed one casualty has suffered mild smoke inhalation. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus are using two jets and three hose reel jets to extinguish the flames.
There are currently road closures in place at the junction of Lyelake Lane, Lathom Road and Dickett's Lane and police have urged the public to stay away from the area.
A fire and rescue spokesperson said: "Four fire engines from Fulwood, Tarleton and Leyland are currently in attendance at an incident on Lyelake Lane in Lathom, Ormskirk, along with assistance from Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service.
“The fire involves a commercial unit consisting of the ground floor, which is well alight. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus are using two jets and three hose reel jets to extinguish the fire.
“There are currently road closures in place at the junction of Lyelake Lane, Lathom Road and Dickett’s Lane. Please avoid the area at this time and keep your windows and doors closed if you see or smell smoke.
“One casualty, suffering from mild smoke inhalation, was treated by firefighters.”
A spokesperson from Lancashire Police added: “Please be aware that there are currently road closures in place at the junction of Lyelake Lane, Lathom Road and Dickett's Lane.
“This is due to an ongoing fire in the area. Police and Fire are in attendance. Please avoid the area at this time.”
