A man who murdered his mother has been jailed for life and must serve a minimum of 22 years before he can be considered for release.
Mumtaz Ahmed, 43, was found guilty by a jury today (October 18) of stamping on and kicking 85-year-old Inayat Begum to death at the home they shared in Prairie Crescent, Burnley.
The court heard how Ahmed called an ambulance to the property at about 3.30am on Sunday, April 24, and told emergency services his mum was on the floor and not breathing after a fall.
Paramedics attended and Ms Begum was pronounced dead at the scene, with Ahmed arrested and subsequently charged with her murder.

This morning, following a seven-day trial at Preston Crown Court, Ahmed was unanimously found guilty of the crime.
Sentencing Ahmed Judge Simon Medland said: "You are now 44 years old and have just been convicted by the jury of murdering your own mother.
"She was in her mid-80s at the time, she was vulnerable and frail.
"The sentence for murder is imprisonment for life. You will only be released if the parole board can be satisfied that you can be managed in the community.
"The number of years as a minimum before your case can be presented to the parole board is 15 years. However, that in no way encapsulates the abundant aggravating features of this case.
"She was a vulnerable, frail old woman, murdered in her own home. Murdered by you, by your own hands and feet.
"You kicked her, stamped on her and used a weapon on her. With that, you inflicted numerous bruises of great severity causing her flesh to become almost liquified.
"To her upper left thigh and left arm you punched her and kicked her.
"Dr Lumb finds from her defensive injuries that for her, during a period, she would have known that her worst fears, that she had expressed before, had finally come to pass.
"You were under the influence of drugs and alcohol at the time and it's my judgement that that starting point of 15 years must be moved up. In light of that, I fix the minimum term of 22 years.
"That is the length of time, less time on remand, which must elapse before you are eligible for parole.
"Mumtaz Ahmed, I sentence you to life in prison with a 22-year minimum."
Following sentencing, Det Ch Insp Rachel Higson, of Lancashire Police’s Force Major Investigation Team, said: “Mumtaz Ahmed is a violent, aggressive man who preyed on his elderly mother.
“His cruel and wicked actions robbed relatives of a much-loved family member. Mrs Begum was described as a thoughtful, caring member of the community who had nothing but kindness for others.
“Ahmed has attempted to conceal his despicable actions through a web of lies, showing no remorse for his brutal actions resulting in the murder of his mother.
“My thoughts remain with Mrs Begum’s loved ones at this time, it is hoped that this verdict will bring some closure and enable the family to grieve in peace.
“We welcome Ahmed’s imprisonment, which will give him considerable time to reflect on the gravity of his actions.”
