A 28-year-old man has been arrested after trying car door handles in the early hours of the morning.
Police were called to Buckthorn Lane, Blackburn, at 1.17am and then to Blossom Walk at 1.18am earlier today (October 12).
Both callers told the police a man was trying to get into cars in the area.
Officers quickly attended and arrested a 28-year-old man from Blackburn on suspicion of interfering with a motor vehicle. He remains in custody at this time.
Insp Kathryn McIntyre said: “I know what an adverse impact vehicle crime can have, with victims suffering a financial loss and having to take time out of their day to organise repairs or spend time on the phone to their insurance companies.
“There is also a more long-term impact of someone having invaded your personal space and taken items that belong to you.
“I welcome this arrest and I hope it demonstrates our continued commitment to robustly tackling all forms of crime.
“I would just ask the public to help us by keeping all windows and doors secure and not leaving any valuables on display.”
