A Mexican eatery has opened a bigger and better site in this East Lancashire town.

Burnley’s Urban Burritos has closed its former site in Royle Road and has opened a new shop in Standish Street, after growing in popularity.

The new site, which sells Mexican food such as burritos, opened at the weekend and is avaliable for takeaway and to eat in.

Owner and head chef, Lewis Walstow, said: “Before, the business was only online and available for delivery.

“The new shop is in a better position and in a bigger premises, more people will be able to dine in now instead of just taking food away or ordering online.

“We outgrew the site we were in before and noticed an increase in demand.”

Lewis said he was nervous to relocate given the current economic situation, but said he had a lot of support.

He said: “We were nervous to make the move with the current cost of living crisis.

"Thankfully, I had some people who have given us a hand in setting it up.”

The 20-year-old said he has always wanted to run his own business, creating authentic Mexican dishes.

He said: “Starting a business like this has always been a passion of mine. At a young age I always wanted to be a chef.

“The recipes are all authentic, myself and a few other people went to Baja Californian. We tried the food there and absolutely loved it.

“We came back here and decided to start up the business in 2020.

“Now, having a full restaurant in my name is a bit surreal.”

Hot dogs, nachos, loaded fries and quesadillas are on the menu but the business specialises in its namesake – burritos.

Its beef brisket burrito, served with chipotle mayonnaise, is one of its most popular items and a dish that Lewis claims you will be struggle to find elsewhere.

He said: “I haven’t seen many people sell beef brisket. It is expensive and usually takes a lot of time and effort to make.

“We sell very authentic food that is a reasonable price.

“So far the reaction to our new shop has been very positive.

“We’ve had a lot of customers, old and new, come in already.”
