The drag queen representing East Lancashire on the new season of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK has survived another week in the competition, but has been told to improve by judges.
Sminty Drop, from Clitheroe, was “ambushed” by the judges on last night’s episode (September 29) and was criticised for her lip-synching ability and runway outfit.
Before hitting the runway, Sminty said she was “taking a risk” with her outfit but said she is a “thrill seeker”.
The judges, media personality Michelle Visage, singer FKA Twigs and presenter Graham Norton, said she needed to change up her renaissance-inspired outfits and look to control her lip synching performances.
Graham said: “Sminty dropped the ball. You do look great but experiment more and be braver with what you’re wearing.
“I predict that you’re going to look good whatever you wear on the runway.”
Michelle said: “Sminty came out here and knew maybe half the lyrics. She was looking around when she forgot the choreography.
“On the runway, I would like to see her in something else that highlights another part of her.
“She did have a lot of energy even though she fumbled, which I do appreciate.”
FKA Twigs had some kind words for the 23-year-old, who has only performed on stage three times before.
She said: “It’s incredible she’s so young and confident because I wasn’t like that at her age."
Starlet, from Surrey, became the second queen to sashay away from the competition. She faced Jonbers Blonde as both queens lip synced for their lives to About You Now by Sugababes.
After the show many fans took to social media to discuss Sminty’s appearance on the show.
One person said: “Sminty Drop messed up on lip sync and her look tonight is meh yet she’s safe.
Another said: “Sminty Drop’s getting ambushed by the judges this episode.
A third said: "[I am glad] Sminty Drop survived. My current top three are Sminty, Black Peppa and Dakota.”
You can watch RuPaul’s Drag Race UK on BBC Three and BBC iPlayer.
