A business owner from Chorley is feeling 'honoured' after she was nominated for a solo business finalist award.

Dawn Elliot, owner of Sew Confident Chorley, said she has had a real 'pinch me' moment after she was nominated for the award as part of the North West Enterprise Vision Awards.

Being nominated for the award alongside seven other business owners, Dawn said she can't believe she has been so successful only three years into having the business.

She said: "To be nominated for this award was such a “pinch me” moment for me.

"I took a huge leap of faith when I launched Sew Confident Chorley so to receive this recognition after just three years of business is just a dream come true."

Dawn said she connected with the women in her category and will stay in touch with them in the future.

She said: "I connected on Instagram with all the ladies in my category and we have all been so supportive of each other.

"It's been wonderful!

"It was lovely to meet them all face to face in Blackpool on Friday and get to know them a bit better.

"Sadly, I didn’t take home the award but made so many great connections with the other finalists.

"They are all lovely and I’m arranging a catch up with them all at my studio as we are all keen to keep in touch with each other.

"We were all just so honoured to be nominated and to get this far."

Winner of the Solo Business award was Pippa Hughes from PostCake.com and the other nominees for the award include Gwen Backhouse from Curlew Secretarial Solutions, Harriet Taylor from J.C.Tweddle, Louise Bamford from Accent Language Solutions, Natacha Diskin from Savvy Style and Susie Tucker from Design Fix.

Established in 2011, the Enterprise Vision Awards have marked over a decade of glorious years celebrating the outstanding successes and achievements of the North West’s most talented female entrepreneurs.

Outside London, the EVAS are now the largest business awards dedicated solely to women.

The awards distinguish those women who are leading the way in their industries or are building businesses that are not only judged on turnover, but creativity, ethics, passion and commitment.
