A sex offender who is a risk to women and children is on the run from police.

Shaun Aver is wanted for breaching his sex offender notification requirements after he failed to complete his registration and notify officers of his whereabouts when he was released from prison.

The 36-year-old is white, 5ft 6in tall, of medium build, with short brown hair.

He has links to Blackpool, Preston, Fleetwood, Cumbria and Bury in Greater Manchester.

Police are asking people not to approach him if they see him but to call them and report his whereabouts. 

A police spokesperson said: "This man is called Shaun Aver – he is wanted by police for breaching his sex offender notification requirements.

"Aver, 36, has failed to complete his registration and notify officers of his whereabouts after being released from prison.

"He is a risk to women and children and should not be approached."
