An East Lancashire pastor said he is “shocked” after his new autobiography climbed the Amazon book charts.

Pastor Mick Fleming, from Burnley, published Blown Away: From Drug Dealer to Life Bringer earlier this month.

The autobiography, whose foreword was written by William, the Prince of Wales, explores how he led a life of crime and addiction before having a religious experience changed his life.

Just weeks after being published, the book is currently ranked as number one best seller in religious autobiographies, and 74th in general biographies.

Mick said he is “shocked” to see his the book climb the ranks of the Amazon charts.

He said: “I am so taken aback by its success but really grateful.

“I want to thank everyone who has purchased it. It is still selling really well. I hope people can get something out of the book that is more than just surface level.”

Mick said he has been inundated with messages from readers who resonate with Blown Away’s message.

He said: “We’ve had phenomenal feedback and the book seems to have touched many different people who are going through different life issues.

“We have received hundreds of messages of people from all weeks of life who relate to the book and resonate with its message.

“Forgiveness, letting go of the past and coming to terms with loved ones who have passed away.

“There are many different stories about my life in it, including the loss of my sister and the time I spent in a psychiatric unit.

“The book turns life on its head and makes you look at life from a different perspective.”

Pastor Mick first shot to fame during the 2020 pandemic, when his work delivering food and necessities to desperate families in Burnley became the subject of a BBC news report watched by 50 million people.

As well as his book he is also having a television show made about his life.

Actors and writers William Ash (Waterloo Road) and Andrew Knott (Gavin and Stacey) have been working with Mick over the last few months and are now ready to start writing the script for ‘The Pastor’.

‘Top Boy’ director Brady Hood is already in talks with Herd to direct the TV series.

Mick says the eight-part series isn’t for the faint-hearted and said the script writers will have to “tone down” his story as it is “so crazy” that viewers wouldn’t believe it.
