ONE of Darwen's oldest residents is to celebrate her 100th birthday today.
Jane Nuttall has lived her entire life as a proud Darwener, and will share some of her many memories with family members when they join her at her home in Balmoral Road for a party.
Her nephew Stewart Nuttall, 61, who lived in Darwen for 30 years before moving to Little Lever, said: "She has an absolutely fantastic memory, right back to when she was five years old. Her stories are fascinating."
The last surviving member of six siblings, Miss Nuttall worked as a weaver in several Darwen mills, now defunct, before retiring.
Despite her age, she still lives on her own in a two up and two down house, and likes to spend time with her family, which also includes niece Ruth Nuttall and numerous great nieces and nephews.
