POLICE are appealing for two people to come forward who may have vital information on a fatal accident.
CCTV images show what police believe are two women walking along Canterbury Street, Black-burn, in the early hours of last Saturday.
The footage shows two people walking in the direction of Byrom Street and police are keen to hear from them as they try and piece together the circumstances surround-ing the death of Peter Stappard, 43, of St Peter Street, Blackburn.
Mr Stappard died when he was run over by a people carrier in Canterbury Street around 1am last Saturday.
The driver of the car which allegedly struck Mr Stappard has been spoken to by police but no arrests have been made.
Detective Constable Dan Perkins, of Blackburn CID, said: "We are keen to trace these two people as they may be able to help with our enquiries. I ask them and any one who knows them to contact Sgt Mick Young at the road policing unit on 01254 353205."
Police have also issued a description of the women they are trying to trace.
One is described as white, of slim build, with long dark hair in a pony tail and wearing a white dress with dark jeans and boots.
The other is believed to be white with blonde hair and wearing a dark three quarter length jacket.
Police believe the two women may have walked down Darwen Street before turning right in to Canterbury Street at around 1.10am.
Officers from road policing are also keen for the driver of another car seen in the area at the time to come forward. It is alleged the vehicle drove around Mr Stappard while he was led in the road.
