ORGANISERS of the Great Harwood Agricultural Show are aiming to make the last event at the showground the best ever.
The 141st Great Harwood Agricultural Show will move to a larger site next year because more and more attractions are being added annually.
First the 140th family event takes place at the traditional site at the showground, Wood Street, Great Harwood for the last time ever, on Bank Holiday Monday May 26.
Although the number of horse classes has been reduced slightly this year, organisers have signed up several new attractions to add to the traditional favourites.
Horse classes were reduced because organisers lost parking space for the horseboxes, due to sale of the land. Next year, on their new, larger showground, they not only plan to increase horse classes, but also hope to reinstate the popular show-jumping classes.
This year, alongside the light and heavy horse, sheep, cattle and Ayrshire calf classes, there will be dog, poultry and rabbit shows.
Organisers hope to continue with the Tug of War competition, and are appealing for more teams, from pubs, clubs or any groups to enter.
New attractions this year include: A demonstration of show-jumping from the Spanish Riding School, with riders wearing traditional Spanish flamenco costume, on horses of Andalucian origin.
Archery, and a training circuit from the Army - participation from the public invited. An extensive market and various charity stalls.
A children's craft workshop 28ft climbing wall, bouncy castle and slide.
Ferret racing.

Organiser Carol Amer said: "Last year we lost the use of some of the land we traditionally use, but now that we have acquired a much larger site we are confident that in the future our shows will be one of the biggest attractions in the region.
"It is a great family day out with lots to interest all ages and plenty of attractions for the children."
