A HOUSE fire started after flames spread from a car parked on the driveway of the home.
The incident happened in Palatine Square, Burnley, just after 4am on Saturday and the heat from the car fire smashed windows at the front of the house.
Watch manager at Burnley fire station, Neil Mark, said no one was hurt in the blaze but it could have been a lot worse.
He said: "When we got there we found that fire had spread from a Mercedes parked on the drive.
"We also discovered that the fire alarm in house wasn't working because the batteries had run out. This shows the importance of regularly checking your fire alarm to make sure it works.
"We put a new one in while we were there."
The car fire is being treated as suspicious and is under investigation.
