POLICE who were suspicious of a car parked in a lay-by in Eccleshall Road, Darwen, in the early hours found cannabis in the passenger's coat pocket.
And Blackburn magistrates heard that when Paul Wilson was searched at the police station, a bag containing 64 diazepam tablets fell from between his buttocks.
Wilson, 31, of Olive Lane, Darwen, pleaded guilty to possessing both drugs. He was fined £300 with £50 costs.
Jonathan Taylor, defending, said Wilson had been using both drugs for pain relief.
He had an operation on an injured hand but there were complications following a skin graft.
"He was in considerable pain. The medication he was prescribed was not helping," said Mr Taylor.
