A DISQUALIFIED driver who had reported damage caused to his wife's car decided to drive it to a place of safety.
But police alerted to the damage were watching the car on closed circuit TV and arrested Sarfraz Khan as he drove to his mother's address.
Khan, 28, of Maria Street, Darwen, pleaded guilty to driving while disqualified and without insurance. He was made subject to community supervision for 12 months, banned from driving for two years, fined £200 and ordered to pay £60 costs.
Basharat Ditta, defending, said the offence had not been pre-meditated.
"His wife had been in town with their nine- month-old child and rang him when she returned to the car and found damage had been caused," said Mr Ditta.
"My client attended and decided to move the car so no further damage would be caused to it. Unfortunately for him, police were keeping an eye on the car and that was how he was caught."
