Darwen Vale High School celebrated the forthcoming Beijing Olympics with pupils taking part in a variety of activities to learn about the themes, values and messages of the Games.
In drama, pupils investigated the instantly identifiable symbol of the Olympic rings (above), and in English, pupils discussed the cultural differences between England and China.
The school restaurant offered samples of Chinese cuisine, and Ke Li, the school's Chinese language assistant, held workshops making Chinese masks and traditional hats alongside teaching Chinese calligraphy.
Josie French, who attends extra-curricular Mandarin lessons at Darwen Vale, said: "The Olympic lessons were fun and it's important that everyone learns how the 'one world one dream' motto of the Games can be achieved.
