A MAN was seriously injured in an alleged assault in Blackburn town centre.
The 25-year-old was taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital following the incident in Penny Street at 4.20pm today. His injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
A 21-year-old local male has been arrested on suspicion of assault in connection with the incident.
The alleged attack happened close to the entrance of the market and people believe several shoppers who saw the incident.
Det Sgt Andy Cribbin said "We are currently investigating a serious assault that occurred in Penny Street, Blackburn Town Centre about 4.20pm. The area was busy at this time and I would ask anybody who witnessed this incident or has any knowledge of it to come forward".
