AN appeal has been made to help ship education equipment to deprived schools in Pakistan.
Lancashire County Council wants local firms and groups to sponsor containers filled with desks and chairs, bound for the Gujarat region.
The furniture is unwanted stock from Marsden Heights Community College in Brierfield.
Former county council chairman Terry Burns and Marsden Heights headteacher Mike Tull witnessed during a 2007 visit to the Pakistani province how schoolchildren sat on the floor and leaned on their bags to write.
