A HOMELESS charity is appealing for "urgent help" for more volunteer interpretors after an influx of immigrant workers to the area.
Bosses at Maundy Relief, a based in Abbey Street, Accrington, said immediate help was needed, particularly from Polish speakers.
Dorothy McGregor, who has run the charity for the past 10 years, said: "Due to the large increase in immigrant workers to the area we are urgently seeking volunteer interpreters to offer help to those in distress.
"At Maundy Relief we work at the coal-face of need and respond to poverty, as well as emotional needs within the community.
"In the past few months and years the need has grown for more Polish speakers as the immigrant community has increased.
"The need really is urgent so we can provide a full service to all members of the community."
The charity supports the homeless and less fortunate, providing everything it can for the 200 visitors that pass through the centre each day.
The charity, which has Coronation Street star, Church-born Julie Hesmondhalgh as its patron, has seen dramatic expansion over recent years, with visitors trebling to 35,000 last year.
Dorothy added: "Without donations and help from volunteers we would not be able to do the work we do."
