ENGINEERS have been left red-faced after installing a new road sign featuring a spelling mistake.
The new sign was put in place to notify residents of a change in the speed limit as part of a new traffic- calming system in Burnley.
But, instead of reading Browhead Road, the sign calls the street Brownhead Road.
Bosses at Lancashire County Council, who are replacing all the road signs in the Heasandford area as part of the project, say the mistake was made by the company commissioned to make the sign and it will be replaced for free.
The mistake was spotted by residents on the street, who reported it to the county council. The sign is still standing, but will be replaced when the replacement has been delivered.
The signs, which show the new 20mph limit, feature logos designed to make traffic slow down.
The pictures were designed by pupils at Heasandford Primary School as part of a road safety competition.
