THE first commercial buildings on Blackburn’s Carl Fogarty Way have been approved.

Inceptum2 Management Limited's block of four industrial units can now be constructed on the specially-built road to the Whitebirk roundabout motorway’s junction six, named after the former Superbikes world champion and King of the Jungle.

The main application for the 10,000 square feet of light industrial space on a key gateway to the town was approved by Blackburn with Darwen Council’s planning committee in May.

Now the councillors have signed off a supplementary application to resolve drainage issues at the site.

Work on the project on the corner of Carl Fogarty Way and Thornley Avenue in Little Harwood and Whitebirk ward is expected to start shortly afterwards if the scheme gets to go-ahead.

Cllr Phil Riley said: “This will be the first of a number of commercial developments in Carl Fogarty Way.

“It will be an important step forward for a key gateway to the town."
