A MAN who ran for three hours on a treadmill has raised £1,586 for a disabled children's charity.

Chris Waddington, 38, collected money from shoppers in Colne Asda, on Saturday March 29, as he ran on the treadmill in aid of Caudwell Children.

The Burnley-based operations manager, who works for Unison Engine Components, named his campaign "Run Fat Boy Run".

He wants to help the charity provide free treatments, therapies, specialist equipment and dying wish holidays to disabled children across the UK.

Store customers helped boost his sponsorship further by donating money to charity volunteers collecting in the foyer.

Chris then went on to complete the London Marathon three weeks later, adding to the money he raised for the charity.

He will be presenting a cheque to the charity at Asda, at 1pm tomorrow.

Chris said: "It was incredibly worthwhile. I can't wait to see how the money helps to change a child's, and even a family's life, in the area. It's this thought that got me through the run."

The charity is now appealing for families in the area who need a donation to come forward. To contact Caudwell Children, call 0845 300 1348, or email charity@caudwellchildren.com
