A MAJOR clean-up aimed at tackling crime and grime has been launched.
Blackburn with Darwen Community Safety Partnership will be working in the Higher Croft area as part of the borough's Beatsweep initiative.
The week long operation, which began on Monday, is aimed at improving the quality of life for residents.
It involves environmental issues such as graffiti, litter picking as well anti social behaviour and crime.
Untaxed, abandoned and illegal cars will also be removed as part of the initiatives. Neighbourhood policing teams will also be carrying out highly visible patrols, both on foot and with the aid of the CCTV van.
Officers will also be carrying out speed awareness checks following concerns raised by residents during PACT and community meetings.
