A MAN was confronted by two robbers while walking near to the Leeds and Liverpool Canal.
Det Sgt Ian Taylor said that the man was walking behind the former Lambert Howarth Mill, towards Stanley Street from Parliament Street, when the incident occurred.
"He was approached by two men who asked him for a cigarette, then started to root in his pockets, taking £130 in cash," said DS Taylor.
The men were both white, aged around 18 to 23 and of medium build. One was around 5ft 10in tall and his shorter friend was 5ft 6in.
Detectives are anxious to speak to anyone who may have seen the incident, which happened at around 9.10am on Friday, or anyone who has seen the two men hanging around the area.
Witnesses should contact DS Taylor at Burnley CID on 01282 472144.
