Police are trying to identify a scammer who is posing as a leisure trust worker and tricking people into handing over cash.
The fraudster is said to be targeting homes in the Nelson and Colne areas of East Lancashire.
Pendle Leisure Trust said the con-artist is pretending to be one of their employees and is asking for financial donations.
The Trust has warned the public to remain vigilant and report any incidents to their head office.
A spokesperson said: “We are aware of someone knocking on doors in the Nelson and Colne area, pretending to be from Pendle Leisure Trust and asking for financial donations. This person does not work for Pendle Leisure Trust.”
In the latest update, the Trust said: “We understand they are currently in the Marsden Park/Bakerhouse Road Area of Nelson.
“Please report any such incidents to our Head Office: 01282661228. If you feel threatened or in danger please call 999.”
A police spokesperson said enquiries are ongoing to identify the “bogus caller”.
They said: “We were called at 4.31pm on September 12 to reports of a bogus caller knocking on doors in the Marsden park area of Nelson.
“Enquiries are ongoing to identify him. Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101, quoting log 926 of September 12, 2022.”
