AN ELECTRICIAN banned from driving for six months under the totting up procedure has won back his licence on appeal.
Craig Gilbert, 42, of Northwood Close, Burnley, had claimed he would suffer exceptional hardship if he was ordered off the road. Gilbert, of Northwood Close, Burnley, had earlier also been fined £100, with £35 costs and a £15 victim surcharge by the town's magistrates, after being convicted of speeding.
Burnley Crown Court had been told how the self employed appellant had got work in Cumbria, travelled to Ulverston each day and took two young employees with him. All three would lose their jobs if the ban was imposed.
The hearing was told Gilbert, who also carried his tools in his van, was supporting his daughter through university.
