Services across Blackburn with Darwen are being closed or changed on the day of the Queen’s funeral.
Town halls and leisure centres will be closed for the day, while bin collections will go ahead but will be paused during the funeral.
On Monday (September 19), as well as the town halls being closed, customer service phone lines will be unavailable. During this time, many council services can be accessed on their website.
Bin collections will take place as normal in the borough on Monday, however, will be paused during the Queen’s State Funeral as a mark of respect.
Household waste recycling centres sites will be open on bank holiday Monday, although these will close during the Queen’s State Funeral as a mark of respect.
Blackburn Leisure Centre, Darwen Leisure Centre, Witton Park Arena and the markets will be closed for the day on Monday.
Funerals and cremations already scheduled at Pleasington Cemetery and Crematorium will go ahead as planned and the registrar's service will be available as an on-call service.
Adult Social Care services will be operating as normal, as on other bank holidays. This includes hospital discharge support services.
