The Estrella Damm National Restaurant Awards has announced its 2022 winners as well as a list of the top 100 restaurants featuring venues across the UK including in Lancashire.

This year, three restaurants in Lancashire made the list and the awards saw Moor Hall in Aughton be crowned the best restaurant in England.

The Awards are judged by more than 200 experts, part of its judging academy, that are familiar with the industry with their roles including food writers, chefs and restaurateurs.

The National Restaurant Awards website says: “The UK is split into 11 regions, with members of the academy voting for the top seven restaurants that they have dined at in the last 12 months, weighted in order of preference. The results are compiled, and the top 100 list of the best restaurants is created.”

Restaurants can win a variety of awards such as Wine List of the Year and Chef of the Year.

They’re also given between one and five pound signs (£) which are used as an approximate estimation of the cost of food there and it doesn’t include drinks or a service charge.

Moor Hall in Aughton has been crowned the best restaurant in England.

The Grade II listed building boasts rooms, five acres of gardens as well as a lake and the restaurant is described as “impressive”, according to the Awards website.

Reviewers can see why the restaurant has two Michelin stars, here’s what some of them had to say.

One reviewer took to Tripadvisor to share their experience, writing: “Omg this place totally deserves it 2 Michelin stars.. the whole meal is just so much more than a meal it’s a full on fabulous experience. Amazing staff at every which way you turn. Thank you for everything, you made our wedding anniversary just fantastic.”

Another said: “My partner and I came for christmas dinner 2021. The service, the food, the layout, the grounds, and everything else was phenomenal. It was the best meal I have ever eaten, hands down. It is an experience, not just a meal.”
