For many months, Charles has been taking on many of the Queens Royal engagements as her health began to deteriorate, with her struggling with her mobility.
She has died just over a year after losing her husband Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.
The country will now go into mourning until the Queen's funeral.

The Queen has visited Blackburn on a number of occasions including a Maundy Thursday celebration in 2014 and a town visit in 1955, three years after she took the throne.
Her coronation was held in 1953 and the celebrations of her Silver, Golden, and Diamond Jubilees in 1977, 2002, and 2012 respectively.
In 2017, she became the first British monarch to reach a Sapphire Jubilee.
