MORE than 250 children and parents took on Hyndburn's 'Let's Move' challenge at Accrington's Milnshaw Park.

The event gave away 20 recycled bikes from Active Lancashire’s Cycle Recycle scheme complete with a new helmet to youngsters aged between four and 11-years-old.

Thirty children took part in one hour bike skills sessions delivered by Go Velo.

Accrington Stanley Community Trust provided football, basketball and rounders for all ages and abilities and over twenty footballs and basketballs were given away to encourage people to keep active.

Parent Sarah Charmer who attended the event with her son said “Ronan had a fantastic time. Thank you to Let’s Move Hyndburn you did an amazing job organising the event for the community”

Another parent said: “My children really enjoyed it.

"I have four children and going out for the day is usually really expensive, and it would be great if there were more free events like this.”

Mark Pickup who manages Hyndburn’s parks remarked “It was great to see the pump track being used by so many children.”

Cllr Steven Smithson, Hyndburn Council's environment boss, said “It is great to see local organisations across Hyndburn working together to put on this fantastic community event in Milnshaw Park.

"I hope it encourages residents across the borough to be more active and get involved in future Lets Move Hyndburn events”.
