Celebrities and councillors across Lancashire have been sharing their praise and words of encouragement to pupils receiving their GCSE results today (Thursday, August 25).

A Darwen TikTok star, who goes by the username of Max Balegde, has told those disappointed with their grades that they “do not predict the trajectory of [your] life”.

In an Instagram post Max, who used to work in a Darwen chip shop and studied at Newcastle University, said: “Good luck to everyone getting their GCSE results today.

“Remember, if it doesn’t go well you could accidentally become TikTok famous and have thousands of people make fun of your [hair].

“So many of you have messaged me about your GCSE results.

“To those of you who are happy with them, well done - very proud of you.

“And to those of you that aren’t I can’t even put into words how much this does not predict the trajectory of your life.

“Being a hard worker and aiming to be successful in things that you are good at (which doesn’t have to be a stupid exam) will get you far in life.

“I have every hope in you.”

Max currently has 2.2 million followers on the app and is known for his comedy videos.

He works with huge brands, such as JD and Pretty Little Thing, and even rubs shoulders with high-profile celebrities.

Max recently worked with Sky, interviewing celebrities on the red carpet at the House of the Dragon red carpet event.

Other Lancashire celebrities also offered some words of wisdom to those getting their results.

Britain’s biggest family and stars of 22 Kids and Counting, the Radfords, said: “Just want to say all those that have picked up exam results today, if you didn’t get the results you wanted do not beat yourself up.

“Just know you tried really hard and that’s all that matters.”

Blackburn Rovers player, Tyrhys Dolan, has left a message for students finding out their GCSE results today.

In a video, the midfielder said: “I just want to wish you all the best in finding out your GCSE results. I know you have all worked hard and I hope you get the results you want.

“Wishing you all the best from me and everyone here at Rovers.”

To celebrate GCSE results day, Rovers is giving students collecting their GCSEs the opportunity to attend their home fixture against Bristol City for £5.

A spokesperson said: "Rovers face the Robins at Ewood Park on Saturday, September 3rd and students wanting to join us should complete the registration section at the bottom of the below flyer and bring it to the Ticket Office at the Roverstore at least 24 hours before kick-off.”

You can find the form on the Rovers website.

Jayne Rear, cabinet member for education and skills for Lancashire Council, said: "Our ambition in Lancashire is for all children and young people to reach their full potential, regardless of where their starting point is.

"Maintaining those high standards was always going to be a difficult task for this year group, who are the first to sit formal exams since the start of the pandemic.

"Our GCSE results this year demonstrate the incredible resilience our pupils have shown throughout the pandemic, and they deserve to be justifiably proud of themselves.

"I'd like to congratulate and thank our pupils for all their hard work, and I would also like to thank our teaching staff for supporting our children through this immensely challenging period."

Young people are urged to contact the college or further education provider they had planned to attend if they did not receive the grades they needed, to discuss the options available to them.

They can also contact Talkzone, in confidence, for advice and support.

Young people can call Talkzone on 0800 511 111, text on 07786 511 111 or email talkzone@lancashire.gov.uk
