A boutique charity shop chain, that aims to transform the way people see charity retailing, has opened a new store in Clitheroe.

A new Daisy’s branch opened on Moor Lane earlier this month and is the latest to join their group of stores along with their Wilpshire site, which opened in May 2021, as well as their Great Harwood store, which opened in March 2022.

Their flagship shop in Wilpshire has been home to some designer items including a Mulberry handbag which retails for around £1,595 on the Mulberry website – will the donations to this Daisy's branch be of the same calibre?

Regardless of the retail price or labels on their products, the idea behind Daisy’s is to combine luxury boutique style with a charitable focus whilst also adopting an ethical retail philosophy.

Carl Barlow, shop manager, said: “It is the same friendly Clitheroe East Lancashire Hospice shop, but with our new branding.

“It is still the same volunteers, the same pre-loved items and the same charity serving the community.”

Carl described the community the shop presently serves. “We are lucky that Clitheroe is a tourist town and a lot of tourists pop in when they visit.

"We have our regular locals, but we have been established here for over 14 years so we are well known and easy to find for return visitors.

“We are also lucky that we have around 24 volunteers, most of whom have been here since we first opened to help to run the shop.

"They have also been a part of our re-development; everyone has pitched in, either in decorating, the layout and the shop presentation.

"Husbands and family members of volunteers are donating flooring and kitchens and time. We are very fortunate.”

It’s also the place to visit for bridal parties hoping for a luxury dress without the hefty price tag.

With a range of wedding dresses available, the shop often sees would-be brides popping into to browse through our dresses donated to us from a range of sources, including bridesmaid dresses from one of the bridal shops along Moor Lane.

Ann-Marie Brewer was one such bride-to-be from Ribchester who purchased her dress from here earlier this month.

She said: “I saw this beautiful dress last week but was worried it might not fit. I have since found a seamstress in Longridge who has offered to alter it for me.”

“I knew it was just what I wanted.

"I wanted to buy a pre-loved dress because that is what my future husband and I are – pre-loved.”

Darwen based Blue Insignia have again completed the shop front which makes it part of the new Daisy’s Group which features our beautiful logo and helps to establish the Clitheroe shop into our new concept charity retail outlet  - a boutique charity shop for fashion lovers.

Zoe Holden, Daisy’s Cluster Manager for East Lancashire Hospice shops, said: “We are very excited to be opening another Daisy’s.

“On behalf of everyone at the hospice we would like to thank Carl and the team for getting so much done in preparation.”
