IT was one of the most popular rides at East Lancashire’s only theme park.
Taken in 1991, this photo shows the Tower of Terror at Camelot near Charnock Richard.
The rollercoaster opened at the park in 1989 and the six carriages took thrill seekers through a castle building at speeds of over 40mph.
The ride closed at the end of the 2000 season. As it was being dismantled to make way for another attraction sparks caused the facade to catch fire, destroying the castle.
The ride itself was moved to the Dreamland theme park in Margate where it was known as Looping Star.
