Who remembers when school play times were always like this?
This photo was taken at Peel Brow Primary School, Ramsbottom, in 1974, but to be honest you could have got a similar shot at virtually every East Lancashire primary school in that era.
Note the shelter built into the gable end of the school - even if it was raining, you could still go outside at play time!
Other schools would have similarly robust shelters which stood in the corner of the playground - and which also made very good goals for those impromptu games of football in the yard
