ALMOST 500 people attended a weekend family fun day.

The Lammack Summer Fayre took place on Saturday August at Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar School Sports Hall in Blackburn.

.Alf Green, chairman of the organising committee, said “We had a very successful event that was very well received by all who attended. The Deputy Mayor of Blackburn with Darwen, Cllr Parwaiz Akhtar, opened the proceedings and local councillors came to visit.

"Stall holders were unanimous in saying how much they had enjoyed the day and that they thought the venue and organisation was great.

"We just wanted to organise a great day out for the community, and I know we achieved that objective”

It enjoyed support from 1V (One Voice) Scouts who r were on hand to help the young children in the many outdoor activities as well as fun indoor activities like rock painting, colouring, beads, paints etc.

The bouncy castle proved a draw as did the ice cream van, pizza oven, BBQ, and slush machine and Snack-o-Clock’s Potatwists.

The Fayre had stalls including arts and craft items, handmade crochet items, a cheese stall, cakes, biscuits, pastries, chocolates, sweets, marshmallows, soaps, shampoos, candles, clothes and accessories, scarves, shawls, jewellery, perfumes, skincare products, beauty and make up products, books, glassware and porcelain.

The star of the show was Catherine, the professional children’s entertainer.

Mr Green said “It was a pleasure to watch Catherine interact and fully engage with the children. The speed with which she was able to create balloon dogs and swords was amazing. The children left the show happy, smiling with balloons held high."
