The Great Taste Awards winners have been announced and a host of East Lancashire businesses have been recognised.
More than 50 products created by producers across Lancashire featured on this years list and have been praised for their flavour, appearance and quality of ingredients.
The awards, organised by the Guild of Fine Food, are the world’s largest and most trusted food and drink awards.
In East Lancashire, Clitheroe's Exchange Coffee Company - which also has a shop, coffee bar, private dining space and roastery in Blackburn, picked up a total of four stars for three of its products.
Its Tanzania Kongoni Estate was awarded two stars, while its Colombia Arhuaco - filter, and espresso - won a star each.
Haslingden had three winners of one star, with The Real Lancashire Black Pudding Co. getting a star each for its White Pudding and its Gaelic Crown, while Mr Fitzpatrick's won a star for its English Elderflower & Bramley Apple drink.
Anne-Marie Fenn, Managing Director of Mr Fitzpatrick’s Ltd, said: “We are thrilled! Each year we are getting more and more awards from our full range.
“We are just going to keep going and hopefully keep being part of the Great Taste Awards – and watch the awards keep coming.
“Many people are drawn to those Great Taste labels and makes them eager to try the rest of our range too.
”Make sure to visit our Temperance Bar on Bank Street in Rawtenstall to try the full range.”
Dough Ball Pizza in Burnley picked up one star for its Caputo Sourdough, while Booths, which is based in Ribbleton and has stores stores in Clitheroe and Longridge, won one star for its Festive Yule Cake.
A spokesperson for the company said: “Judges described the dough as superior quality, with and amazing flavour, a perfect rise and a crisp finish.
“I am so happy to have won the award – hopefully there will be some more award wins in the future.
“We want to thank our customers for staying loyal and we hope new ones can come and try the dough for themselves.”
Each year judges, including leading critics, chefs, buyers and restaurateurs, carefully pore over thousands of entrants to select the year’s top products.
This year, 5,555 products made the list, with 241 receiving three stars, 1,237 products getting two stars, and 4,077 winning one star.
Winning products are allocated one, two, or three stars, which indicate:
- 3-star: Extraordinarily tasty foods.
- 2-star: Above and beyond delicious.
- 1-star: A food that delivers fantastic flavour.
