A professional wrestler is hoping to bring back the glory days of British wrestling through his wrestling school.

Hayche Haidry runs his Top Rope Wrestling Academy in Burnley and said he was inspired to the launch the sessions after realising the interest for the sport amongst young people.

Hayche said: “People love to be entertained and wrestling has always been something that entertains.

“Our sessions are all about getting young people off the streets and helping them to fulfil their potential.

“We have children aged from seven upwards and also those above the age of 16 joining us for the sessions each week. Each compete in their own age ranges.

“This is the style of wrestling people all grew up with, the WWE and the British wrestling that people are fond of.

“The kids get to take on the persona of characters and can learn the art of wrestling at the same. We have kids coming in masks and costumes and they all get to dress up as their favourite characters.

“It is fun and at the same time they get to learn a skill and discipline that goes with it.”

Hayche, 33, who has also been a football coach, has himself wrestled all over the world.

He runs the wrestling school at Lindsey St Youth Centre at Canal side Community Centre.

He said: “I have wanted to do this for a while as I myself am a trained wrestler and I thought it would be great to pass on the skills to the next generation.

“I have been trained in Olympic style wrestling. Here, I wanted to bring back that family friendly feel to the shows.

“Wrestling is loved the world over and the enthusiasm for the sport never dies.”

Lancashire Telegraph:

The school recently hosted its own show at the Kestral Suite in Burnley and it is one of number of events they get involved with.

Hayche said: “The shows are really great for helping to get our kids gain confidence and at the same time they can compete.”
