A NEIGHBOUR who had a grievance with a nearby firm parking vehicles outside his house was caught on CCTV slashing tyres of cars belonging to the company.

Blackburn magistrates heard Cameron Khan could be seen slashing 11 tyres on four different vehicles causing more than £600 worth of damage.

Khan, 39, of Clarendon Road, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to damaging vehicle tyres belonging to Thorncraft Motorcycles. He was given a conditional discharge for six months and ordered to pay £629 compensation, £85 costs and £22 victim surcharge.

Lee Woodyatt, prosecuting, said Daniel Hudson noticed the damage to the vehicles as he arrived at work at 7.50 am. The cars were parked on Clarendon Road which ran alongside the business and a total of 11 tyres had been slashed.

"Mr Hudson viewed CCTV footage and could clearly see the defendant leave his home and carry out the damage," said Mr Woodyatt. "He said he had no idea why the damage had been caused. He believed he had a good relationship with the defendant. Some vehicles had recently been moved to allow the defendant to carry out some building work."

Richard Prew, defending, said his client had no previous convictions. He said the defendant had photographs which showed that vehicles belonging to Thorncraft had been parked on his street.

"He has visited the local MP and made complaints to every authority that he can make a complaint to," said Mr Prew. "He says his street should not be used as part of private premises."

Mr Prew said the incident had been the result of a build up of frustration

"He is normally a law abiding citizen but on this occasion his frustration took over," said Mr Prew.
