A number of Lancashire business have decided to close today (19 July) as temperatures are set to hit the high 30s across the region.
While some business owners have let their staff enjoy the sunshine, others are worried about the welfare of staff as the Met Office issue a red and amber extreme heat weather warning.
Here is a full list of Lancashire business and shops that will be closed today:
Jaipur, Burnley Road, Padiham
Jaipur Indian Restaurant is closed today "due to the weather forecast".
Rosegrove Chippy, Lowerhouse Lane, Burnley
This fish and chip shop will be closed today to protect the owner’s health and wellbeing.
A spokesperson said: !As most of you already know we are going to be closed today.
“When it gets this hot it wreaks havoc with Rhys' sugar levels so I'm not risking anything.
“Enjoy the weather.”
Lancashire Discus Sales, Brisol Works Mount, Accrington
This aquarium will reopen Wednesday but those in “dire need of pet food” can get in touch.
Posting to their Facebook page, a spokesperson said: “Due to the extreme heat, the shop will be closed tomorrow.
“If anyone is in dire need of food, or has already planned a trip to the shop then please contact me and I can arrange a time to meet you there.
“Anyone who has visited the shop before knows how hot it is even on a winters day, it will be unbearable tomorrow.
“Also any outstanding orders will be sent out on Wednesday and Thursday for deliver to ensure they turn up in a good condition.
“Sorry for any inconvenience caused”

Country Fried, mobile fish and chip business
Country Fried won’t be open this week for the “safety and welfare of staff”.
Langho owner Simon Mathews said: “It's with a heavy heart that we have had to make a decision, in the safety and welfare for ourselves and our staff to close this week!.
“Due to the extreme temperatures forecast for the next two days the heat in the van would not be safe for us to work in.
“This means that unfortunately, due to prior commitments with regards to private bookings this week, we will be closed in all locations this week.
“ Thank you for your understanding and continued support and look forward to seeing you all again.”
Blackburn sea cadets, Somme Baracks, Blackburn
A spokesperson said: Due to the predicted temperatures we will be closed on Tuesday 19th July for training.
“We will return to boating sessions on Thursday evening at Fishmoor.”
East Lancashire Hospice, Park Lee Road, Blackburn
Due to the extreme weather, East Lancashire Hospice reception and some of our Support and Well Being Services will be closed on Monday and Tuesday 18th and 19th July.

Due to the extreme weather, East Lancashire Hospice reception and some of their support and well being services will be closed.

All East Lancashire Hospice shops will also be closed due to the hot weather.
This includes the sites in Whalley New Road and Brunswick Street in Blackburn, Queen Street in Great Harwood, Bridge Street in Darwen, Moor Lane in Clitheroe.
Sovereign Beverage Company, Haslingden, Blackburn
David Davies, the founder of Haslingden Road’s Sovereign Beverage Company, has let his whole company enjoy the sunshine today after they have had an “incredible start to the year” and exceeded targets.
Depher CIC, Rosegrove Lane, Burnley
Burnley's James Anderson, owner of the plumbing and heating charity, has said his employees will be given Tuesday off, fully paid, so they can enjoy the sunshine.
Arcade Café, Market Street, Colne
A spokesperson said: “As you know the weather is set to be ridiculously hot on Tuesday. As the weather forecast hasn't changed for today we are closed.
“We are hoping that you will all understand that for health and safety reasons this is our only option.
“As the heat drops significantly on Wednesday we will be open as usual for the rest of the week.
“Please be safe over the next few days and keep hydrated.”
The Dog and Otter pub, Cliffe Lane, Great Harwood
The Dog and Otter won’t be closed entirely today but its kitchen will – but you can still head in for a drink.
A spokesperson said: “With the upcoming heat wave, we have made the decision to close our kitchen on Tuesday.
“We don’t think it’s fair for staff to work in a kitchen in such heat.
“We will be open as usual on Wednesday. The pub will be open as normal for the bar etc. as it’s rather cool inside.
“There will be no food on Tuesday. We hope you can all understand.”
Lancashire Tea Rooms, Accrington Arndale
This café will still be open for ice cream and drinks – but the kitchen will be closed until Wednesday.
Lolipops Lancashire, Liverpool Road, Penwortham
This Penwortham-based sweet shop will be closed today for safety reason – some of their stock has also started to melt.
A spokesperson said: “We tested the heat today but unfortunately it's just not safe for staff to work in nor is it good for the stock.
“I mean, the chocolate raisins have melted… fuming.
“Any orders due to be collected will be available to collect. We will ring you in the morning to arrange collection.
“Sorry for any inconvenience.”
