The UK-wide heatwave is set to continue today (19 July) and East Lancashire is set to be hotter than some of the world’s renowned holiday hotspots.
The temperature is set to reach 38°C in parts of the region, which is currently covered by a red and amber extreme heat warning.
Burnley, Ribble Valley, Rossendale and Pendle are set to see the highest temperature of 38°C.
In Blackburn with Darwen and Hyndburn temperatures are set to peak at 37°C.
According to the Met Office, some parts of East Lancashire are set to be hotter than Athens in Greece and Tenerife, where temperatures are predicted to reach highs of 32°C.
It’s set to be 12°C hotter here than in Madrid and 6°C warmer than Nice in France.
Some East Lancashire towns will be even be hotter than Dubai, where it is set to be 37°C today and even Jaipur in India where temperatures are predicted to peak at 36°C.
Alexandria in Egypt is predicted to be eight degrees cooler than Blackburn.
