The Mayor of Blackburn with Darwen joined volunteers for a charity walk in Witton Park.
Councillor Suleman Khonat, had invited people to the walk on Saturday morning to raise funds for Mayor’s chosen charities which include East Lancashire Hospice, Anaphylaxis Awareness and Nightsafe.
Residents met at Witton Park Arena for the hour-long walk through the park. The event was open to anyone.
Cllr Khonat said: "It was a great turn and brilliant to see many people. We even had someone from Scotland who had travelled down to take part.
"The event was organised in just a few weeks so it was short notice for everyone.
"The weather was great and we were grateful for all the support we recieved.
"Donations are still coming in.
"Anyone who still wants to send a donation can do so by contacting the Mayor's charity at the Town Hall.
"My personal thanks to Reyhana who organised the event."
Mayoress Reyhana Khonat said: “By walking and working together we aim to raise money and awareness with local people for locally important charities.
“These charities have been there for many people and we would like to support them in whatever way we can”.
