Lancashire and other parts of the UK are preparing for ‘extreme heat’ this week as temperatures are expected to hit 40°C in parts.
The Met Office has issued its first ever ‘extreme heat’ red weather warning which comes into place today (18 July) and tomorrow.
The red warning covers many parts of Lancashire including Blackburn, Darwen and parts of Rossendale.
The amber warning covers Burnley, Ribble Valley, Pendle and wider parts of the region, including Blackpool, Lancaster.
In Blackburn with Darwen, temperatures are set to reach highs of 34°C with temperatures peaking around 5pm.

The region’s red weather warning will continue on Tuesday where temperatures are set to reach a sweltering 37°C.
Tomorrow is set to be cloudy with sunny intervals.
The rest of the week is set to be much cooler with temperatures set to peak at 20°C.
Light rain is predicted on Wednesday and Sunday.
