New data has revealed the 10 makes of car that appear most on social media platform Instagram - although it's not the typical supercars you would probably expect which occupy the top spots.
According to the data, which looked at hashtags for 28 popular makes of car, it isn't the flashiest motors, like Ferrari and Porsche, that people love to 'Gram, but BMWs, Fords and Hondas.
BMW was by far the most Instagrammable car make - ranking top of the list with more than 66million posts.
This was followed by Honda (51million posts) and Ford (37million posts).
And it seems Blackburn and the surrounding areas have a LOT of instagrammable cars to scroll through - particularly BMWs and Audis.
These gleaming motors, which we found by simply using the hashtag #blackburn on Instagram, have been spotted across East Lancashire, either on sale at some of Blackburn's car dealerships, or snapped out and about on the roads.
The top 10 most Instagrammable cars (and number of posts) were revealed as:
1. BMW – 66.7million
2. Honda – 51million
3. Ford – 37million
4. Toyota – 35.2million
5. Audi – 31.3million
6. Ferrari – 25.9million
7. Porsche – 25.7million
8. Nissan – 24.8million
9. Volkswagen – 21.3million
10. Jeep – 20.8million
Vauxhall landed at the bottom of the list, with just 1.2million Instagram posts, beaten out by cheaper car makes like Skoda with 3million posts and Alfa Romeo with 3.4million.
The Instagram hashtag data for the 28 popular makes of car was analysed by car finance platform CarFinance 247 to reveal those that are most Gram-worthy.
COO and co-founder of CarFinance 247, Louis Rix, said: “While our data reveals the cars most commonly photographed for Instagram, we can also use the ranking to reveal some of the most popular makes on the market, most surprisingly Honda, who we might not typically consider Instagrammable.
"It’s also surprising to see Vauxhall rank bottom of the list considering Vauxhall Corsas are still in such high demand.
“Some of the more luxury car makes also suffered in the ranking; Ferrari are known for being attractive vehicles, and the likes of Lamborghini, Rolls Royce and Aston Martin all missed out on the top spots with 20.4M, 5.3M and 4.4M hashtags respectively.
“Photographing your car is an essential part of buying and selling used cars – an enticingly photographed vehicle is likely to attract more prospective buyers or those looking to finance.
"Considering our used car finance data shows that over £7million was spent on BMWs in 2021, perhaps it’s not so surprising that the big-name brand made the top of Instagram’s rankings.”
